The Realist agony auntFirst off no it's not wrong. You are not wrong for how you feel, no one can really help that. It would make things a little awkward depending on what the family thinks but as far as I know it is not illegal for you two to be together as you are not related by blood.

I don't think you should pass up someone who could be really good to you just because of a little awkward moment in the family that would pass.
