If he has made it clear that he just wants to be friends - then there really isn't anything that you can
do.If it's going to hurt you should he have a girlfriend then you do need to question why you are his friend - if you are hoping that he changes his mind and it turns into something else, then you are kidding yourself... And you will get hurt.
I would say - cool off the friendship thing - just distance yourself and keep busy with other friends.

Where you friends beforehand? if not I would say let it go and just be aquaintainces. It looks like you haven't gotten over him since your relationship with him. The reality is that unless you were friends with someone before you went out with them (unless you were only friends because you fancied them) you can't have a real friendship after, only 1 person fancying someone whos no longer interseted... sorry!
