I am Christian and I am not a fan of the devil at all. So I was a little bit worried at first if being goth would affect my Christianity. It didn't. Wearing goth clothing, listening to goth music and showing true colors is goth. But if you like potions spells and doing creepy weird stuff is something but all i know it isn't goth so if you like wearing goth clothing, listening to goth music and showing your true colors be goth and don't be afraid to tell everyone

Hey,No, you can dress how you want, and still have your beliefs. I am a Christian, and I like gothic things too :D. You should dress how you want, and listen to what you want, without having to feel your worshiping something your not. This is sterotypical and wrong, many people do say things like this, but they don't know what they're talking about and don't like different things, and are not willing to accept people being different from them.Dressing like this, unfortunatly, you may have people calling you an emo, which my friend has had, and it's not true at all!! Just because you like a style, doesn't automatically mean you are trying to hurt yourself in a drastic way, please, please, please don't listen to these people! Either way, just because you like something, you shouldn't be worried about what other people will think, yes you're a Christian, but having a certian style has nothing to do with this and will not come inbetween you and your religion, you should be happy with who you are and the way you live your life, so if you like a certian style, music or anything, then thats that. Don't be worried about anything like this, if you're happy, and you know whether you worship the devil, that's all that matters.Hope this helps.

Dress as you feel you want to.... I dress goth style and the only devil in my opinion is the ones who Judge and curse other people by their standards. A nun could be dressed in her habbit and be a right evil battle axe.. Forget the religious side or go into the lions den in a bit of fur loin cloth if you want to dress like a christian.
It's not what you ware but what you do while waring the clobber that counts.

Hi, I used to be a goth many moons ago ( and a christian too)!My interest in goths was purely about the music and also the clothes - nothing to do with Satan at all!!Some goth bands have satanic lyrics - but not many - and you needn't listen to the lyrics anyway (sometimes you can't make them out anyway!!) - just the music if it suits!

You can wear goth clothes and still be a christian. Your cloths do not reflect your religeous beliefs or what is in your heart. You do not need to be a satanist to dress goth. However, I would like to point out that people will judge you on your appearance. You may not believe in the devil, but people may assume that you do just because of the way you look. I know it is wrong to judge a book by its cover and all, but that is the way of the world and you will be judged, and not favorably.

From personal observation it seems to believing that if you are overweight you should dress up as if you have consumption. Here is a hint, dark clothes and heavy somber make-up really need a certain type of body.
But no, it doesn't mean a believe in the devil.

Goths being related witht the devil is such a stereotypical belief. Sure some people, idiots, think that if they see someone in gothic clothing that they worship satan, but satanism and wearing gothic fashion is not related.
Goth : 1. A Type of rock music.
2. Someone who is a fan of this type of music.
That's what the dictionary defines as goth.
It's your choice, wear what you like, I, myself wear gothic clothing, and trust me i do NOT worship satan =]
hope i helped
much love

you can dress however you like. it's your choice, to be what you want to be. satanism is beleiving in the devil. that's something WAAY diferent. being goth is dressing in those strange outfits, and funky hairdresses. worshiping the devil is killing goats, creating forest fires, and danse macabres...that kind of things. definetly it's not the same thing!

I don't know about SA Goth, but British Goth culture originally came from the punk and rock genre of music, and nowadays Goth culture spans many types of music within that genre.
It is impossible to know what someones religion is just by them being a goth, they could be Christian like yourself, atheist, or believe in more earth-based religions, or even be satanic. I think maybe because Goth is influenced by horror, people can get confused and think Goth is therefore satanic.
If you do some online research in to goth culture (and in to satanism) I think you will probably find a lot of really interesting stuff and see how the two are entirely different.
