The thing is he's had alot of lovers in the past and only 3 girlfriends.  OP you're going to get hurt either way, so its better you call it off first. Knowing its not going anywhere and yet staying with him and falling for him is never an ideal situation. Accept that sometimes things don't work out and although its very, very difficult, you will have to smile, be graceful about it, wish him well and carry on with your life.
