 He needs time because as of yesterday, you are no longer trustworthy. That is the what happens when you behave this way. What happened? How did the kiss happen? Who was the guy?

You can't MAKE him trust you. You just have to give him time and let it slowly build back up.
Why did you do it? You say that you had problems so was it just the feeling of being wanted? The lean in for the kiss is the biggest thing in that situation, and after lips actually touch is when it goes horribly wrong.
Explain to your boyfriend that you want to sort out any underlying problems once and for all and then you can move on and make a new start. You have to solve the problems of why you were pushed to another man for affection.
DO NOT give your boyfriend an excuse for what you did but just say you want to get things back on track.
