My mom is power hungry and my father will tell you that..I already financially support myself and I have since I was 15 years old. I know I can provide for myself but at 17 I have no idea how the emancipation process works.. I've looked up endless information and basically all I need to know is how long that process is?The court costs aren't a problem for me at all because I have 2 jobs. My problem is I can't sign a lease for an apartment because I'm 17.. So I'm pretty sure I gotta be emancipated to do that.. Anyway, if someone can help PLEASE dear God please do that.. I live in Illinois if that helps at all.. Please help me out. Reply to this Question Share |

Maybe a counselor or social worker can help with getting you a lawyer cause this may need to go to family court if your parents wont sign the documents so that's just how it is. The judge will decide if ur capable of being on your own.
Good luck.
