Hey just thought I'd say first hope everyone had a good Xmas and happy new year when it comes.

I have this problem nobody seems to take seriously but I have quite bad sleeping problems. I don't seem to get tired until about 4am and because of that I don't end up getting up until about 2pm on the days I'm not working.

I don't know what's caused this. Everytime I try to go to bed at a reasonable time I just end up lying awake because I'm not tired.

I've tried talking to my doctor but she said just to try go to bed earlier, I've tried sleeping tabletss, tiring myself out, hot chocolate...basically everything. I don't know what to do, I've taken days off work because I'm too tired to go in and have fallen asleep there before because I'm so tired. Any advice?

i am the exact same way. i was up til 4 am this past morning. i can rarely wake up at the same time everyone else does. if i have to wake up early one day, usually i will have to pull an all nighter the night before, just so that i cannot physically stay awake past 10pm. it gets really old. i have tried everything too. i think we are stuck this way for the most part. just accept that you are a "night owl" and live your life as such i guess.

A male reader, CaringGuy United Kingdom +, writes (27 December 2009):

Take a good look at your life in general. Are you stressed, or worried about things? Insomnia tends to be caused by a huge amount of underlying anxiety or stress. Identify any struggles, worried or unresolved issues, and maybe that will help.
