Im just planning to be myself around her, but i want to know that in her current awkward emotional situation are there any things i shouldnt do/say?Im realy confused as to what i should do and as im generally not very confident im afraid im going to let my chance slip.

i would not make the first move yet buddy
i reckon that shes going thru a difficult time and needs your friendship right now and a shoulder to cry on.
as for the new years party i wouldnt make any moves on that day either...even if you are intoxicated dont.
give it a little bit more time and the signs should be clearer...and if she wants you know she will let youknow.
best of luck
