I think the solution lies in your question.
You said he's got a major crush on your best friend, and will not give up, despite her non-response.
You'd do better to turn your attention away from him and get on with other interests, date other guys.
See, he may well be aware (probably is) that you're infatuated with him, but SHE is the one he's choosing to pursue.
So basically it's a lost cause - UNLESS he decides to turn to you at some point in the future - but DON'T count on that happening!
