This is quite embarrassing for me. But i'm getting increasingly worried and anxious about it. I'm 16, I have been going out with my girlfriend for 11months nearly. Our relationship is great, and things are great as they are, but we have yet to engage in any sexual activity, and i think that the natural course of our relationship means it'll start.

On the end of my penis, i have foreskin which will not open up to allow the head to come out. I can have an erection adn ejaculate fine, and masturbation is fine too. I'm worried that this may be a problem though, in some way, and will be very embarrassing, if me and my girlfriend eventually go down that road at anytime. Please give me advice, i'm really worried, and i'm not wanting to rush into anything, but i just want to be comfrtable with myself in case the suggestion comes up. thanks

don't worry - my foreskin was tight and would not retract all the way until I was 16. It now comes back all the way (I am 27). Go and see a doctor though because a friend of my required a little help to get it back.

if your girlfriend has never had sex before then i doubt she will even notice, i doubt she will even know what a penis is supposed to look like! would you know if a little bit of skin was a little bit out of place on her?? don't worry about it so much she will probably never know and chances are it will sort itself out in short time x

I think I was 15 or 16 before mine would come right back. It just never would and then it did one day. I used to pull it back as far as I could and try to get it further back all the time, and then it eventually just came right back. I don't think you'll have to wait much longer. See a doctor if you're worried but I don't think there is a problem.

No need to see a doctor or have a circumcision. For some people the foreskin doesn't come back until the teenage years. It will come back in time - try pulling it a bit further back but don't attempt to force it right back.

Ponungalungb agony auntI take it you aren't circumcised? You may want to have a doctor take a look. It's never too late for a circumcision. It will make you more stream-lined, so to speak.

A male reader, Yos Netherlands +, writes (6 September 2006):

Yos agony auntYour foreskin should be able to be pulled back to expose the head of your penis. The foreskin is very stretchy, it may feel tight but you can pull it back. If you find you really can't do it, you should see your doctor. There are various reasons why should be able to do this, the most obvious one being hygene. Good to keep clean down there!

Having said that, it shouldn't effect your sex particularly in the mean time, especially if you use condoms (which you should be doing). With a condom on your foreskin isn't going to move very much, and isn't going to get pulled back.

CRS698 agony auntHi there, Why not go to see your doctor? Let them have a look.

It may be that you need to have a circumcision type thing to allow the head to come out properly.

I'm sure it wouldn't be an issue for your girlfriend, but in terms of it being comfortable when you start to do it, I'd go to see the doctor first.

I hope it works out for you.
