Even though this isn't a relationship question, I would like to know if anyone knowledgeable is willing to help me interpret a very vivid dream I had recently.

I dreamed that I saw two formidable looking snakes. I was standing by my front door and they slithered, side by side, into the house. There was a very thick, fat snake with freakishly large scales and the most malevolent eyes. It looked like a viper of some sort. The other snake was as long and skinny as a cable and wiggled around as it slithered. I felt my blood run cold as they slithered into the house and disappeared. I remember feeling anxious because I knew that the snakes were SOMEWHERE in the house, and I couldn't see them. I was afraid to go to sleep because I sensed that they were waiting for me to do just that so that they could sting me.

What could this dream mean?

Thank you all for your wonderful insights. All of you were very helpful and have opened my eyes.

@Raquel... I am a Christian, I don't have any particular denomination but I am afraid it has been forever since I attended church. I have just moved to a new house because I was extremely uncomfortable and upset in the house where I was living. I had been living with a friend but he and his family did some things that upset me terribly and they began to mistreat me. You may be correct about an evil presence in the house because things became very tense at home and I would get a stomachache every night when I returned home. I have sensed moved because the situation at home was so unbearable... they wouldn't allow me to have a bed or a room, I was sleeping on the couch and even though I paid rent they treated me like a servant and tried to make me clean up after them constantly. Interesting insight, though.

angelDlite agony aunthas someone new come into your life recently that you are not sure about and you are not sure whether you can trust them or not? this may not even be a person it could be some new contract that you have signed up for or are thinking of doing and you are having doubts whether it was the right thing to do. i don't believe in dream interpretation dictionaries coz a snake might symbolise something entirely different to you than what it does to me. i find the key phrase in your account of the dream to be...

' they slithered into the house and disappeared. I remember feeling anxious because I knew that the snakes were SOMEWHERE in the house, and I couldn't see them. I was afraid to go to sleep because I sensed that they were waiting for me to do just that so that they could sting me'

dreams are your brains way of processing the thoughts that you have throughout the day. i think you feel worry and mistrust in your life at the moment, your dreams are your subconscious mind trying to decide on an answer for you

A male reader, mrg123 United Kingdom +, writes (8 June 2011):

mrg123 agony auntWell, this may be more of a relationship question than you think because snakes can represent sex and sexual desires and/or fear so.....it could also stand for a repressed desire. The fact that they were two distinct in appearance but hunted as a pack so to speak suggests there are two, different but interrelated issues here. The fact they invaded your home is symbolic, I think of an invasion or impingement of these issues on your comfort zone. I would take the home to be an allegory for your own emotional comfort zone, if that makes sense.

Other than that...ye try google. Good luck :)x

If you are a christian, then you would understand me. Snakes and all serpents represent the devil. He is obout to come into your house or he is already there. The only thing you can do now is pray hard. Not all dreams are meaningless, most of the dreams we ignore are warnings from god.
