I get extremely depressed, but not violent, myself when I am not on the pill. I had to try a few before I found one that worked without causing more complications, so maybe you could try that. Ask your doctor what she/he recommends. I think one that I used to take was called Allese (a-lease), but I'm not sure on the spelling. My doctor recommended it for depression and anxiety for that time of the month. For me, it caused bad cramps but it may not for you.
Also, like aunt honesty said, I have heard that calcium works. Since the pill controls it well enough for me, I have not tried it. Definitely ask your doctor, or call a gynecologist's office and set a visit for a consultation. A gyno would probably be more knowledgeable in this situation.
Sometimes I still get emotional to where I cry over stuff I usually wouldn't if it's a bad period. I usually can feel when it's coming. I just excuse myself from the room, go somewhere else and concentrate on my breathing. You could try that too. My fiance is well aware of why I do that and he changes how he talks to me for the rest of the week. It helps a lot.
Good luck, I know it sucks but hang in there!

There are many ways to control your mood swings during this time, there is a tablet called Serafem that you can get from your doctor to control your mood swings and if you dont want to go on that you could also go on birth control as this is good for calming your hormones and helps alot of people.
you can reduce your symptoms almost by half if you get 1200mg of calcium intake every day so maybe it would be good to invest in a calcium supplement if you arent getting enough through your food.
Also make sure that you are getting plenty of exercise as this is great for reducing mood swings and also helps with depression and cramps. Also make sure you are eating really healthy and try and reduce caffine in your diet and also alcohol and sugar.
