Most of the people I know are very sensitive only towards children...Thank you! Reply to this Question Share |

It really makes me angry when I see teenagers smarting-off at an elderly person; or someone totally healthy is standing in line, and won't allow an elderly person ahead of them as a courtesy. Ive seen people totally ignore older folks who seem lost or confused; or just push past them, because they're moving too slow. Don't get me started!!!
It infuriates me when I notice older people struggling along with bags or something; and no one helps them.
I know sometimes they are cranky and or feisty; but they've earned that right, because they have paid their dues. They're not all frail or senile; but I don't know why people are so ageist in our society? They forget they won't be young forever! Most of what we enjoy today, they paved the way for us!
They are a marvelous source of history and advice. My grandparents were my other parents. They taught me about my heritage and family history. They taught me manners and to be respectful to my elders. I'm protective of children, women, and the elderly; and I'm not ashamed of it, or looking for a pat on the back. I won't stand aside and let people push them around; and I will not just walk by them, if I see they could use my help.
You have a good and kindly heart. Please never ever lose that goodness in you!

I'm a carer for elderly people. Lots of people have empathy for them, but you don't always see it. Are you volunteering? There a charities that arrange for you to visit them for companionship for an hour or so per week/month.

My area is old and sick, I am working on a Arts for health project in the NHS with the elderly who are bed bound..music dance..song..storytelling..Stroke and Parkinson's. The old matter and the state of social health care is appalling. My father was forced against his and the family's wishes to go into old peoples home, the state lied about his capacity, we won! and got him free. I SHOUT FROM THE ROOF TOPS FOR THE ELDERLY.

I have had tremendous empathy for the elderly since I was a child. I was very VERY attached to my grandparents and I think it was a reflection of that. I have always felt this way about old people as well as animals which is why I gave up eating meat ever since I realized that it went against what it stood for. To be honest though, I never really liked children much...I don't know why!
