writes:i got my period on october 22 and wasn't due again until november 18. i had sex on november 2 and then what i thought at the time was my period although i was spotting on november 6-this lasted a day. i didn't think anything at the time but missed my period on november 18. i didn't have any type of bleeding until december 8- 4 days after i had sex. i have been feeling nauseous for about 2 weeks, my breasts have been sore and i have been gaining weight and feeling tired which is unusual for me. my period is due january 5 but i feel like i am pregnant. if it wasn't my period that i had on november 6 then i would be about 10 weeks. am i pregnant or am i worrying about nothing? and should i mention this to my guy friend who would be the father if i am? please help- i don't know what to do and am very worried and scared.

reader, anonymous, writes (3 January 2010): you should ask him if you two can talk in person. tell him exactly what you told us about freaking out and that you're scared. if he is a true friend he will stick by your side and be right there when you find out if you are or not. tell him that you think that there might be a chance that you are pregnant. he has a right to know and that way if anything happens in the future you will both rember this and hopefully will be more careful if you feel that you aren't prepared to handle this type of situation again anytime soon in the near future. if you're scared to find out the results, have him read the test results if you do the test at home or have him go with you when you go to the doctors if that is what you decide to do. but you definitely need to tell him because there is a very good chance that you are pregnant.

 Why don't you wait and see if you are even pregnant first, that way it would save him a lot of worrying. Once you know for sure then tell him. He can't get too mad considering it takes two to tango.

I don't want to totally freak him out. I'm already freaking out and can't handle him freaking out on me or getting angry with me and think that i'm lying because he knows i like him even though we're no longer together. He should already know that i wouldn't lie about something like this but people do think differntly in these type of situations.

reader, anonymous, writes (1 January 2010): it sounds like you very well could be pregnant. you need to take a test as soon as possible. you also should tell your guy friend considering the fact that, if you are in fact pregnant, he is the father. things will probably be awkward but he has a right to know and you shouldn't have to go through this alone.

It certainly sounds like you are. But before you tell anyone, get tested. You don't want to scare everyone then find out you're not pregnant. Get yourself tested as quickly as possible. I know you're scared, but the sooner you get tested, the better.
