writes: Is masturbating wrong? Some people may say morally yes or no, I am a 23 year old female who loves sex but loves to masturbate. I feel great while doing so but as soon as I have an orgasm, the first thought in my head is what would my family think? And its stupid because who wants to think about family at a time like that! I know a lot of people who do it, who have done it, its not a regular thing for me I do it once in an every blue moon.

It's not like you have a go at it on the family coffee table in front of everyone!
So stop beating yourself up, a little self pleasuring is harmless and actually a good thing in many ways, because you will KNOW exactly what you like sexually. Where you like to be touched, how it makes you feel and so forth.
There is nothing DIRTY about it.
Chin up !

You should have listened to Benedict on the current Big Brother on the topic. I'm sorry, I've just realised you are from the US and will not have seen it! UK readers will confirm that this teacher/porn actor advocates masturbation as a daily routine and urges all to be open and unashamed of doing so.
You should NEVER feel badly about pleasuring yourself; after all, that's exactly what your clit was designed for - it has NO other purpose.......

Well, the next time that thought pops into your head, instead of feeling ashamed that your family might think ill of you, consider what they're missing out on!
Masturbation is healthy, stress reducing, and a non-harmful endorphin release. In our day and age, the stigma is finally lifting as more people are honest with themselves and each other.
Not only that, but many women who are familiar with how to please themselves are often better at guiding a partner to do the same. Comfort with your body and your body's sensations is a gift, not an embarrassment! No man owns your sexual response, and it's not dependent on anyone else's mood, technique, and experience.
I'm guessing you'd be surprised at how many of your family members (especially the men) do the same thing you do! Detachable shower heads aren't just for rinsing the soap from your armpits! heh

Well, just think of it this way... It's not really anything for your family to think about! It's not wrong at all, and studies have shown that orgasms help a woman relieve menstrual pain! And orgasms can come from masturbation, so why would it be a bad thing?
I say, just try to teach yourself that it doesn't matter what your family thinks, because it's none of their business.
And as for my vote, if you couldn't already tell, masturbation is A-Ok. I think there were other studies about how it is good for you...
