Recently, however, I was masturbating with some pretty hot images in my head, and I felt the urge to masturbate faster, and I got this weird tingly sensation in my legs. Simultaneously, my leg muscles tensed up and jerked around. It felt amazing, but not really like the things I've heard are supposed to happen during climax. Eventually my hand and arm got tired, and I stopped. I was breathless and like I said, it did feel good... I feel dumb even asking this, but was that an orgasm?

reader, anonymous, writes (20 May 2008): madflash - that is a brilliant description. I have a friend who is 30 and said to me 'i do'nt think i've ever had an orgasm - i'm not sure' - And I said if you're not sure, then id' say its fairly likely that you havn't.
I think madflash could be right - you might have been on the verge, but it could also have been a mini orgasm. Not all orgasms will be huge and certainly your first wo'nt necessarily be.
I had my first at 11 and was washing (standing) in the bath and my legs nearly collapsed. I was addicted to that feeling from then on. its so wonderful. Do what you've been doing and you'll get there never fear!! GOOD LUCK!!

 I know I'm a guy, but I think I can help you with your orgasm... err, the question I mean.
Many women have trouble achieving orgasms. This is quite common (especially when it's me trying to give them one, but that's another story).
I'm pretty certain you did NOT have an orgasm. Yes, you came close, very close, but you would know it if you actually had one. Here are some symptoms of a real, honest to goodness Orgasmic reaction.
1. A building up of tension just before the 'event', usually in places very close to your... errr, nether region, such as; upper thighs, stomach, pelvis, butt, etc.
2. Rapid, shot-gasping breaths as the 'area reacting' starts to tighten up and undulate.
3. HAPPY TIME--A fluctuating, undulation courses through your body in waves, completely uncontrolled and uncontrollable... like your body has a mind of its own and culminating in an explosive blast, which feels like a series of short (very satisfying to say the least) releases of the tension that had built up. (This is when the endorphins are released and a feeling of euphoria fills your entire body from head to toes).
4. Hands will clench, toes will curl, hips may flounder, and your eyes may roll back in head. Also, screams of 'Oh God!' , 'Oh God, Yes!' may be screamed (even if you're an athiest), or if it's a really good orgasm you may scream something completely garbled or become incapable of speech altogether.
5. Finally, a feeling of total relaxation takes over, leaving you content and satisfied... quickly followed by an irresistable urge to raid the fridge. (Or, if you're Catholic, this is where you will be overwhelmed by guilt).
