writes: Hey guys,do any of you know how to interpret dreams? Are they really relevant to waking life, and how? I have had a series of very disturbing dreams lately, some of which are spooky, some of which are just plain weird. Two REALLY disturb me. here is the first (WARNING: VERy spooky!)I had a dream that was so terrifying that it made my heart feel frozen in my chest. I dreamed that I was standing in the downtown part of the town where I live... I live in Uruapan, Mexico. Mexico is a beautiful country and I LOVE towns like Cuernavaca, but Uruapan is a spooky and depressing place. It just has an aura of sadness and desolation. There are many beautiful parts of Mexico but Uruapan could not be classified as one of them, I'm afraid. Anyway, I heard this terrifying music in the distance... I can't describe it, it sounds like that new ''dance on the floor'' song, but haunting and hopeless, not festive. I can't remember the language, but the words were ''don't let it pass you by,'' over and over. Do you know how, in dreams, you KNOW stuff but don't know HOW you know it? Well, these four terrifying beings came up from the ground and began marching through the ''Centro'' (downtown), as if on parade. They had been living in such squalid conditions that they were half decayed and decomposed and for some reason, they looked like zombies, but they were still ALIVE... Two appeared to be men, and one woman... their eyes were like pale blue jelly and their skin had rotted away in patches and they were marching blindly and aimlessly down the street. There was this wretched horselike creature... it was half decomposed, like the humans and it had whitish pink eyes and appeared to be blind, and this man was striking it with a whip. When I woke up I was paralyzed with fear. The music was stuck in my mind for a long time...The dream I had the other night was just plain WEIRD!! I dreamed that I was a really tasty pizza, and when I was delivered it was to an indeterminate place. I can't remember if people were speaking English or Spanish, but they went nuts when I arrived and started screaming, ''It smells so GOOD!!'' and, ''MY pizza! MY pizza!'' and they started snatching up slices. When I was completely reduced to crumbs, they started fighting over the crumbs... I woke up feeling exhausted despite having slept all night. I would be so grateful if someone would try to interpret this... I wish I knew more theory behind dream analysis. Any interpretation, however, is welcome and appreciated! You seem like a really great person, even though I don't know you. I remember when I took psychology, the key to interpreting dreams is to ask what's going on in your life.
Mexico is a beautiful country and the people are friendly and kind but Uruapan is different. There are friendly and kind people here, but Uruapan is not beautiful. It seems detached, as if some scary mist isolated it from the world. I don't feel like I'm in Mexico or even on earth.
There are a lot of details I would like to include but you never know who is looking at the internet, but in retrospect, the pizza dream makes sense.
I'm from Florida originally, but I love Mexico and I am a teacher here. I love the students, and that is the reason I have stayed in Uruapan but I have been sad about my living situation. Most people in Mexico, like I said, are kind and friendly but I lived in a place where I was being abused verbally and emotionally and taken advantage of at home. I lived with people who made my life impossible... I got out of there but the same people became spiteful and continued to make life hard.
I have been feeling a little sad because I don't think I have been a successful person... There is this chasm between the life I dreamed of and the life I'm living and I sometimes feel like I'm destined not to be successful. This sounds self centered but I had so many dreames and they all seem millions of miles away. I would like to see the world and there are places I'm loinging to go but feel stuck here.
Thank you very much for reading my message... you sound very caring... I will think about what you said as I think I have been open to some new insights.

Dreams usually reflect events and experiences that have occurred in your life.
They can be sparked by recent activities, or come up from your unconscious mind regarding experiences that may have taken place many years ago, even back to early childhood.
And, dreams use symbols. They are not often (but can be sometimes) direct reflections of what has been or is going on in your life and interactions with others.
There are times when a dream might not wrap up its message in symbols, however, especially if your unconscious knows there's something you need to take care of immediately. The only example I can think of right now might be that you dream about having toothache and you go to the dentist.
If when you wake you find it seems very vivid and has made a strong impression on you, it won't hurt to call your dentist and get a checkup (particularly if you haven't had one for a long time). In a situation like this, our unconscious mind knows something we don't, in our daytime life, so it's very direct about what it wants you to do: see the dentist.
You said that where you live - Uruapan - is spooky and depressing, has an atmosphere of sadness and depression. Could you say it has a deadening effect on you? How about dark, deserted streets you wouldn't feel safe walking in at night? It strikes me that the zombies - half alive, yet also dead - might reflect the atmosphere and way you feel about your town.......Do you fear you could become like them? Or is there something threatening about your circumstances that give you reason to be so frightened??
As for the other dream, about being a pizza, do you find that people around you are making unreasonable demands on you or taking advantage of you? Asking favors you really would prefer not to do for them?
To sum up: try to give some thought to what is or has been going on in your life, and try to be open-minded to any ideas or insights that may come to you. If you do find you get some "clues" you'll be on your way to what the dream is trying to tell you.........see, our unconsious mind does look out for our best interests and often tries to bring something to your waking self that you need to pay attention to. Your mind is trying to teach you something for your own good, in other words.
I wouldn't recommend reading any "dream books" that claim to say what a particular dream means, however. Yes, dreams do use symbols that are experienced by all of us, but dreams are also very personal and are meant to be relevant to our particular situation.
Hope this helps!
Good luck!
