A female United Kingdom age 26-29, anonymous writes:

I have known this boy my whole life he is the same age as me but goes to a different school We know each other because our mums are best friends and knew each other before we was born, every year in the summer we all (me, my mum, my two sisters, him , his mum, and two brothers) go to the beach together and we do other stuff in the school holidays.

This year was different though because his older brother wasn't there so it was just me and him as my sisters and his younger brother were playing and our mums were engaged in a conversation, and he started a water fight with me and was really flirting after we swam in the sea for a bit and we were having a really good time.

He has never flirted with me like that before even though we have always got along really well. I never used to think of him like that before just as a friend but now I think I like him and I don't know what to do next time I see him I don't want to ruin our friendship by flirting if all he was doing was messing around??? Please help me thanks sooooo much!!!

SweetSmoochy agony auntWhy don't you just keep things friendly and see how he acts next time you two have some space together.

I have a guy friend exactly like this boy, and I also used to like him a little bit when I was about 13 14 years old. Looking back I'm really glad he and I kept it at just friends because we are still very close today.

Make very sure of your feelings and be careful. A lifelong friend like that is not something you can replace. On the same coin, if you two do have feelings for each other, it could make for a very strong relationship because you already know each other as people. You never know! Just be careful and give this a lot of time.
