He's good friends with one of my best friends (who I've known since before I changed schools) so I ended up talking to him pretty often, and I really, really like him. He has a girlfriend, but I'm pretty sure they're going to break up when she goes to college next year. The thing is, this boy and I only talked like once or twice over the summer, and I was already kind of shy around him to begin with, so, somehow, now that we're back in school, it's become even harder for me to talk to him. We have a couple classes together, and we have a ton in common, I just haven't been able to work up the courage to talk to him lately. I know, I know, don't mess with him if he has a girlfriend, but I really miss being his friend, as well. Any advice?

You're going to have to swallow your nerves and just talk to him again: perhaps suggest doing something together if you have a lot in common. There's nothing else you can do I'm afraid. But if his friendship means a lot to you, it'll be worth it. : )
