A female , anonymous writes:

I'm one of the uncool girls in my school and recently we went on an end of school trip to an activity place, where we stayed for the week. There, one of the popular lads in my year asked me out, and because I've never had a boyfriend before, I got excited and blurted out yes before I had any time to think.

Before I knew it, we were snogging and hugging all the time and even though he's one of the popular lads, he's not very good-looking and I became quite worried about what people thought.

Then he started slagging off my mates and I dumped him. Then the girls started calling me unfair, so we went out again. We went out for another few days and I started thinking to myself 'he's going to finish me when we get back to school because I'm unpopular and he is really cool'. I only really went out with him anyway because I'm desperate and I know I won't get another boyfriend for ages. I don't even really like him. So I finished him, saying that the reason was because I wouldn't see him all through the holidays because I'm going away all holiday (which is a lie, I'm only going on holiday for one week). So I was glad thinking it was all over and by the time we got back to school he would have forgottten it.

BUT! He is now trying to contact me through my friends and I don't want to see him because I don't fancy him. He'll be gutted if he found out that I'd lied to him about the holiday.

He's told my friends he really does like me, but I don't want to go out with him, like I said, I'm desperate. I want a boyfriend I really love but I'll never get one. I want to finish it but if I tell him the truth it's bound to hurt him, especially if he's paying for a train ticket just to come and see me for a day. He really does like me. What can I say to him so he wouldn't be hurt? Should I wait for him to finish me so I don't have to do it? I know it would be cheap to send him a text or get a mate to do it and he would be hurt. HELP!!!!! :o(

Angelicc agony auntI personally think you worry a bit too much about what people think. What others may think about boyfriends looks doesn't mean you should stop dating him.

I think this guy is very much interested in you but you were selfish and let him on to believe that you were too. If you don't want to be with him tell him, you really did get yourself into this mess.

Tell him that he's a nice guy but you just don't see a future for you two. Tell him that you should of never of went out with him in the first place as it was selfish because it lead him into believing that you were interesting in starting a relationship.
