At first I felt terrible about it, but then I found out that a few of my friends don't either and we talked and now I'm okay with it. The problem is I don't know how to tell my parents. We don't go to a church very often, but my mom is still pretty religious and I'm afraid of what she's going to say/do. I wanted to wait until the subject came up, but my friends keep telling me that I should just tell them. I'm not sure how to though. Any advice? Reply to this Question Share |

Do you have to tell them? God can be a belief that is totally private to the individual we don't have to shout about it either way.

Im still on d same religion and its ok for me, its fine' but I dont go to the church maybe my horn in head will hit the upper side of the door of the church hehehehe.. I have my own reason, I was confuse, who is here can tell me really who is god? is god catholic? is he muslim? is he buddha? I guess no body knows! all i know is, I just born in the country where this religion i have now is very strong so dats my luck then..I tell U wat, Stay on wat U believe as long U never do anyting wrong, never take for granted to anybody, U ARE DOIN JUST FINE.... Begin by discussing freedom of choice.
Then, if you are getting an audience; move on to asking them how they would feel if you didn't believe.
Ultimately, it is your choice and no person should ever attempt to force you to believe anything against your will.
Also, remind them that the God they believe in is not present and so they too must spend a proportion of their time altogether as though He didn't exist.
Crafty, eh?

What if you just live your life and let them live theirs? You are 16-17 so you will be going off to school or on your own in a few years. Unless they are trying to send you to a religious college does it really matter that they know this?

I've been thinking a lot about these things for the last 5 years or so, and I just feel like it's not something I can believe in. I feel like I'm growing up and I'm starting my make my own decisions, and form my own opinions, so it would mean a lot to me if you could accept that."
If they give you hell, then unfortunately you're going to have to just stick it out and wait till you're out of the house etc. But congrats for thinking for yourself :)
