I was really upset but I understood and said I was ok with it. A couple of days before I arrived I received a few texts from her; I naturally took these the wrong way and got my hopes up. Then a couple of days in I watch her pull one of my oldest friends. They get close for a couple of days and neither will see me. I confront my friend but refrain from 'killing him' merely stating how pathetic I thought he was for being so cowardly. I would of understood if he had made the effort to see me...However, I can't get over my ex and feel really angry and upset when I see pictures of her having a great time whilst I felt sadder than I've ever felt before.Am I being unfair and overreacting?

Yes you take it all the wrong way. It's understandable but you should get over it quickly and have fun and move on like your ex does. She's lucky she had it easy somehow and you might not have it easy at first but just do it. Don't resent or be bitter or stay alone or quiet. Have fun, do what you normally would do when you're happy. Just get over it as fast as possible and build up a new life because it IS a new life for all of you. You'll find other kinds of happiness in your new university so don't just let them fly by just because you're sad about it.
