A male United States age 30-35, *Daley writes:

Hi, I m a 23 year old guy. Yesterday I asked my friend Jeremy (also 23) to sleep over my house for the whole weekend. Around 10 my mom and her best friend were sitting at the kitchen counter drinking some wine when Jeremy came over. This was the first time he was meeting my mom and her friend so he introduced himself and chatted with them while I brought his stuff downstairs to my room. Jeremy came down and we started playing Call of Duty when I said I was going to go upstairs and make us some popcorn. When I got to the top of the stairs I heard my mom’s friend mention my name so I stopped to eavesdrop and overheard them talking about Jeremy; my moms friend called him hot and made a joke about how my mom should invite him over when I’m not around. I heard my mom chuckle and heard her say “he was cute”

I was so freaked out. I’m sure they were just tipsy and joking but my mom is single and attractive and this just really creeped me out. Am I reading too much into this? Or should I be worried since my friend will be with us all weekend and may be alone with my mom?

It sounds like your mom's friend is more interested in Jeremy than your mom is. After all, her friend is the one who suggested she invite him over when you're not around. So obviously your mom's friend was thinking about having sex with Jeremy. So I wouldn't worry about your mom because her friend is the one who made the comment, so your mom probably wasn't thinking about Jeremy at all until her friend made that suggestive comment. Do you know about how old her friend is, and if she's single or married?

I agree, "He was cute" is agreeing with her friend but it does not suggest a hot steaming desire.

It was just drunken banter, dont worry about it unless your mom is some kind of man eating cougar

chigirl agony auntLol, your friend is old enough to say no if he isnt interested. No need for you to worry. And girlfriends do talk about such things for fun, not necessarily meaning it or taking it seriously. Last night I went out with some girl friends, there was a lot of girl-talk that no guy would want to listen to! What they said was girl-talk, nothing more. Just because she finds him cute, doesnt mean she will do anything. He is your friend, after all.

i agree with youwish. You don't really have anything to be worried about. And you can actually always talk to your mum. Don't over think about this.

YouWish agony auntYou don't have anything to be worried about. Her saying "he was cute" means she was being polite and going with the conversation. Had she started sexualizing him with her friends and getting explicit, then that would be creepy!

Your mom isn't going to act anything other than respectable and decent to your friend. Besides, your friend Jeremy would have told you whether or not she was flirting with him.

I think you're fine. You just eavesdropped on harmless "locker room" talk. How many times have I heard my brothers talking about their friends' moms' positive...uhh..."attributes" before and blown it off?
