She always calls me cute and laughs at my jokes, and every time she comes over to look at my work [at uni], she'll either put her hands on my shoulders, play with my hair, or give me and long hug and say 'aw, I love you'. Girls would say I am a 'nice' kind of guy so she likes my company. Is she doing this because she sees me as a brotherly friend or is she trying to get my attention?

ben345 is verified as being by the original poster of the questionShe only seems to do it to me as if I'm 'special' or something. All I can say is that I wouldn't expect a girl to do those things to her brother.

My gut feeling is that she likes you..but I can't give you a written guarantee :)
Have you ever noticed how she acts around other male friends ? if she is so "sisterly " with everybody, maybe she is just a naturally touchy feely type-or a big flirt.
But if she is normally nore reserved with other guys, and acts so affectionate only with you....
