writes: The break up between me and my boyfriend is inevitble. We are on a break, and at the end of the break i'm fully convinced he will break up with me. Should I wait til then and just let it happen, or should i call him before the break is over and just break up with him? which is better?

If it is inevitable, as you say then it really doesn't matter who says it. If you know it's over I would just make that contact and end it now rather than dragging it out that is of course that you wish it to be done as well?

reader, anonymous, writes (29 June 2010): Well do YOU want it to end? If you realize you aren't right for each other, then you should break it off as soon as you can to avoid more pain and to be honest and up front about where you stand in the in relationship.
But if you aren't sure about how you feel or whether you want to continue, then you should wait and see what happens. But don't break up with someone just because you think they are going to break up with you unless you are the type of person who gets satisfaction out of such a power play (which is fine if that's the case).
But honestly, if you don't base it on how you truly feel, then you may either regret your action....
