writes: Hi. I'm thinking about going on the pill. how soon after starting the pill will i be able to have the most protection from sex? I know the first week you need another barrier method, but will i be more likely to get pregnant if i'm only on it a few weeks versus a few months? thanks!!!

for the first week you need to use another form of contraception aswell and then after that you are fine. however you have 2 take a full 7 pills for it 2 b effective. as soon as you miss one you are not covered for another week. ne help? x x x

On the pill, you are safe after 7 days. but to be really safe, you should always encourage your partner to wear a condom. The pill is not totally 100% safe and a condom will not only ensure that you will be safe, it will also protect you from STD's
