A female reader, Charlpop United Kingdom +, writes (30 July 2009):

Charlpop agony auntMy advice would be to approach it confidently, but not directly.

Your ideal conversation --

You : So... You have a boyfriend?

Her : No, you?

You : No, not atm... [Insert a few more lines of conversation here] So... Are you looking for a relationship?

Her : I wouldn't refuse an offer.

You : Do you want to go to the cinema sometime?

Her : Yes, I LOVE YOU.

Okay, you might not get that exact reaction, but you should just see how she acts when you ask if she's looking for a relationship.

I'm not saying this is foolproof, but this way should protect you from complete and utter rejection because you'll be able to gauge her reaction.

Good luck!!
