My advice would be to approach it confidently, but not directly.
Your ideal conversation --
You : So... You have a boyfriend?
Her : No, you?
You : No, not atm... [Insert a few more lines of conversation here] So... Are you looking for a relationship?
Her : I wouldn't refuse an offer.
You : Do you want to go to the cinema sometime?
Her : Yes, I LOVE YOU.
Okay, you might not get that exact reaction, but you should just see how she acts when you ask if she's looking for a relationship.
I'm not saying this is foolproof, but this way should protect you from complete and utter rejection because you'll be able to gauge her reaction.
