To scare away guys who want to ask them out, or annoy them with sexual advances. It's a sneaky trick. I'm thinking of doing it myself to keep women away because I don't want a gf at the moment. And I NEVER want kids. So, how common is this?

I've never heard of anyone I know wearing wedding rings to ward off men, my group of friends and I just usually growl at anyone who shows us unwanted attention. lol.

I've never heard of a guy wearing a wedding ring to keep women away. I am a female and I wore a wedding ring and it didn't really work. You see, wearing a wedding ring might keep respectful women away, but a ring also attracts sleezy, homewrecking women who like the challenge and the "excitement" of being involved with a married man. Even though you are not married, you don't want to attract these type of women. And people usually find that special someone when they least expect it or want it. You may miss out on Mrs. Right.

Guys in Australia dont make advances to women, they leave it up to the woman to pursue them. It has made no difference to my life since I stopped wearing the ring. No man has made any advances towards me because I dont wear a wedding ring.

If you wear a wedding ring and you're not taken, people will think you may not be married, but you're... under the control of some wicked girl (I'm censoring my own words, but the term that will actually come to people's minds ends in "whipped"). Trust me on this one.
I knew a few bank tellers, pretty girls all of them, who would wear wedding rings because that helped them keep many of the flies away. It helps, but I think speaking your mind is better.
And, what happens if you suddenly like someone, but this person saw you a wedding ring? How are you going to tell her you're not really married, you were wearing that ring to keep women away, yeah, without that sounding like too far-fetched?
