A female age 41-50, anonymous writes:

How many of you believes that there is something after we die?

And what will happen?

Reincarnation?

Or became a spirit?

Or nothing at all?

And if nothing , does that make you depressed, that you have only this chance on earth?

Life becomes very different , when we don't believe in any reward system,or other meaningful reasons.

I feel, I wish I would have a faith, because my life isn't going too well and I can't make any sense out of this without some spiritual explanation.

I wish that I would hear some good ideas on this.

Thanks very much.

Hello, I'm concerned with your concerns :) Everyones' journey is unique in finding the true meaning of life. I'm sorry to hear you're going through problems without a faith to turn to. I also have a Christian faith, and it's been a great source of comfort in my life. God says "If you seek me, you will find Me" If you sincerely say that prayer, he will bring a person or event in your life to draw you closer to Him and His truth. He gives you hope and a life worth living each day. Take Care!

Hello, anon. I was raised in a religious faith. I admit to not understanding it all. And as I matured, I came to realize that others who were of the same faith did not understand it all, either. But, faith is faith. The basics of mine (Christian) tells us that we cannot "understand it all" in this life. But, much of life is a searching. Christianity and all other religions are "faith based". I choose to retain mine because of experiences I have had that have convinced me that it is true. I cannot give "proof" to anyone else. I can only speak for myself. Many Christians have different interpretations of what the "afterlife" may be like, as all other religions do. My own views differ from many other Christians. But, I cannot say they are not "Christians" nor can they say that I am not. I do not worship a God that rejects people because of the circumstance of where they were born and what they were taught. I believe that Christ opened the door to all,..even those who never heard of Him in this life. I do believe in a "judgement". But, it is not the kind of judgement heard in many churches. I do believe there is "wheat" and "chaff", but none of us will be the ones who make that distinction. In fact, we are told not to. That is something He reserves for Himself alone. I don't know if I have helped or not. Do a lot of reading. There are some great books on the subject besides the holy books of all religions. As a Christian, you might expect that I would recommend you read some before others. Besides the Gospels and the Acts,... Augustine, Aquinus, Karl Barth, and C.S. Lewis would be a good "start" (smile). There are also many good books on comparative religion. You may find something there that strikes a chord. At any rate,...your very "seeking" will be noted by One I have come to know very well. He will help you if you are sincere. All you have to do is ask. Best wishes. Tom

BadAsh6705 agony auntWow! Great question...I really like talking about stuff like this, but some people get "weird" when you bring up such personal topics.

Personally, over the years I have come to my own conclusions about such questions. I'm not a religious person, but I am deeply spiritual. I think that when people die, they may have completely different experiences, but I like to think that there is something after this life. I'm not completely sure about it, I haven't come to a conclusion yet on whether or not we still retain our conscious mind after death. I think that the universe and everything in it has one underlying "soul" so each person and thing has its own soul that is part of THE soul, and so when you die the only thing that changes is that your soul is not attached to the physical anymore. It becomes part of THE soul. Without physical limitations, your consciousness expands and you then have access to the entire soul of the universe. Every thought in existence. The way I see it, the goal in life is to learn as much as we can and try to be an honest and good person and better yourself and others because what happens in this world effects our souls which in turn effect THE soul.

Now having said this, I believe that this is "heaven" or at least how I imagine heaven. Once our consciousness becomes part of THE consciousness, we will become whole. We become connected to everything in existence, every thought every experience. Everything you've ever wanted to do, you've already done. Everything you've ever wanted to see, be, know, feel, etc. has already been experienced by THE soul therefore you have access to it anytime. You will not miss anyone from your life on earth because you will be part of them (as in connected to their soul).

Now one thing that I feel is important to learn in this life is how to expand your mind...learn as much as you can and think beyond this world. Think about the very things we're talking about now, open other people to the ideas. People go through life without thinking about these things!! They don't care and they think it doesn't matter, but I believe that those who are weak minded and concentrate on sad or evil things are at risk for being trapped in that horrible state for eternity if they die this way. This is what I believe is meant by hell. If you live an evil life and concentrate on material things (which don't matter one bit once you die!) your mind will never grow enough to comprehend THE consciousness. It will be a scary, lonely, dark experience to die for these people.

I hope this helps. I certainly don't think that this is the only truth, only what I believe is true and it may be different for someone else. These things are hard to explain, no one can really tell someone else what to have faith in. It's all personal beliefs.
