I treated myself and within about three days it had all cleared up, the only problem being i forgot to treat my partner!About two weeks ago (two months after i last had thrush) i got the same painful intercorse, followed by itching and discharge, my nurse didnt examine me but she said that it was probably because i had given it to my partner and he had given it back, so i treated both of us. Within two days the itching stopped and the redness went, but the discharge didnt clear up and when we tried to have sex i was in agony! ( Sorry to be graphic but i couldnt even touch my insides with my little finger as it was too painful) My boyfriend said it was also painful for him as i was extremely tight and swollen.I was told by the pharmasist that it had probabaly not all cleared up as it was a bad case of thrush, and she gave me another fluconazole tablet, i took this tablet on monday night. So yesterday (wednesday) i could now touch my insides without feeling any pain, and when me and my boyfriend tried to have sex i only felt a tiny amount of pain when he went all the way inside me.( The pain was bareable where before it made me scream) After about 15 minutes though we had to stop as i was stinging/ burning. Now this morning i felt pain when i touched my insides, not as bad as before but worse than yesterday. As the days gone on things have gotten better and the pain seems to be slowly going away. Im worried though that this is what my sex lifes going to be from now on.We used to have sex for up to an hour and maybe even 2/3 times a day! Now yesterday was our first time having sex in two weeks, and he could only stay inside me for 15 minutes, afterwards it then stung for about 20 minutes.Do you think i will carry on getting better? How long does a fluconazole tablet take to clear up thrush fully! I took it monday evening. (two and a half days ago) Evertyime i speak to people about it they say its just thrush. Help!

Thrush tablets normally take about 2 weeks to work depending on the severity and both you and your partner should be taking them otherwise its a vicious circle being passed from one to the other. Make sure you wear cotton panties and never wash with scented soap, try a gentler one especially for that region from the chemist. Hope this helps hun.
