So i just have some questions:1) Is it reliable/how effective is it?2) how long does it last/work for before you need another one?3)How does it work?4) Does its effect of contraception decrease over time after you have had it a while or fade off nearer the end when you need another one?5)are there any side effects?6)Do ou have to keep having them repeatedly?and my gf won't stop nagging me till i ask this one so...7)Does it really go in your bum and how much does it hurt either during or afterwards? Thanks

Just remember that.

its very reliable, i think 99.9% accurate. Every 3 months. The nurse will inject your girlfriend just below the hip and change over every 3 months. Its basically closes up the ovaries and prevents any eggs from escaping. No its contraception doesnt decrease its stays the same through the whole three months and even at the beggining of having another injection. Most common side effect is weight gain. You have to have them every three months so yes it is repeative trips to the doctors but you can stop whenever your girlfriend wants. No it doesnt go into your bum at all, you jus pull your pants down a slight nitch, lift a leg up as the nurse will direct as to whichever leg she is injecting and insert it below the hip. Ive been on the injection since i was 16 and im now 19 and have no problems what so ever. I recommend it to anyone, its tones better than the pill and works exactly the same only you just have to keep taking the pill. But if you have worries about the effects it can have on your body in several years to come, your nurse will always advice you to give the injection a break every 4/5 years. But it has been proven to dely conceiving a baby, but only dely, not stop all together!
Hope this helps and im glad to see that other young teenagers are taking such safe precautions. :)

I personally went from 130 to 145 lbs in 3 months, and another side effect most of us had was the breakthrough bleeding. I basically had what was like a light-to-moderate period for 6 months. Once I was off the shot, it took my body 6 more months to go back to normal. One option for you to try is the ortho evra patch. you just put a new patch on your body once a week, and the third week is patch-free. It's very discreet and I've had no side affects in the 18 months I've been taking it.

Hi
Its Extremely reliable.
Every 3 months.
How does it work? Cant remember..Pass!
Doesnt decrease in protection No.
Possible mood swings (that stopped me having it in the end) can cause a bit of weight gain. periods can stop (a bonus i found really!)
Yes if you want to be covered, every 3 months.
Yes in the bum cheek. No it doesnt hurt during or after.
Look it up on google.

Hi, right here goes....
You have to have the injection every three months, and it is injected at the top of the bum yes, as for wether it hurts or not depends on the nurse like with all injections, when i had it done i generally could hardly feel it.
Side effects that are common are weight gain and swollen ankles.
Don't know exactly how reliable it is, but have never heard any stories of anyone getting pregnant while on it.
What i will say about the depo is that when you do actually decide you want to have a child it can take quite a while for your periods to return to normal, most people that i know that have been on it it has taken over a year once stopping it before concieving.
In most cases though periods stop altogether while you are on it which is a bonus.
Hope this has helped abit.
Take care.xx.

My gf is on it.She has to have it every 90 days but it may be different. It takes 5 (call it a week to be safe) days to begin working after first injection.Apparently it doesn't hurt!99% effective. Same as pill etc, 99% effective throughout the 90 days so no it does not wear off.Yes in the bum lol!Not sure on side effects. Dont think there are many potential ones.Hope this helps
