 You just know. It's different for everyone. It takes a little faith, too. Many people don't believe in "the one". I think if you know someone well enough to know that there is absolutely nothing you would change about them, not even little things, and you know that you can be okay with being with this person even when you are old and grey, and are willing to work out any wrinkles that may occur in the relationship because you can't imagine being with anyone else...it might be "the one". My husband is definetly "the one" for me, I knew right off. There isn't another man in the world that could take his place. We never argue, we are happy through rough times, have 2 kids, and another that is not his, and I know that I am very lucky to have him. I'm pretty sure he feels the same way about me. We share everything and work as a team to get things done, and never blame eachother if things go wrong. We work through it. Sure, we have little spats about this and that, but always we end up laughing about it. So, I totally believe there is someone for everyone, it's a matter of knowing exactly what you want and keeping an eye out for for it. Don't let imitation boyfriends (or girlfriends) waste your time.

 I personally don;t think you can know that - all you can do is take a risk if you find someone who makes your heart beat faster and who you want to be with all the time.
There are no guarantees that any relationship is meant to be - you just have to do right by them and hope they do the same by you - love takes many forms - that love you feel at the beginning is different to the love you feel after 10 years and different again further down the track -all love affairs are about taking a huge chance, but what would life be like without it?
Hope yours IS meant to be!
