reader, anonymous, writes (6 July 2010): You could try smiling when you look at him. That isn't being too obvious I don't think, it will just give the impression that you are a friendly and approachable person. Which is a nice impression to give!
It might even encourage him to talk to you. Or maybe you could approach him, if you felt brave? You could maybe just say something like, "Hey, I often see you here. My name's ... , just thought I'd say hi." Then just smile and walk away. I don't think that is being obviously flirty. Again, on the surface it looks like simple friendliness and politeness. Just a couple of ideas anyway, I hope this helps! x

If you want to flirt with someone then generally you want him to notice it. The first step in this relationship though might be to start talking to each other? About church, school, family, friends, life?
