My husband has taught at college. He always thought it was a bit odd when a student got a crush on him, because he knew that it was all about transference. You can look it up on Wiki. This happens to both males and females, whether or not they are teachers, doctors, therapists and other people in authority. Anyone who has had this happen to them knows what it is and doesn't act on the crush, because it wouldn't be professional. It would be a breach of ethics and of the authority placed on them in their position.
