How do you survive WHAT without him?
Life? Global warming? An illness? What?

You question is rather vague. It sounds like this man has worked hard to build up what he has got. Did you help him? Because he knows what its like to not have money he is being cautious. Why you you know what to marry him? why did you not do that before?
Develop your own live and make your own money then w=he will see that youare independent and may appear more attractive to him.
