writes: Okay so...there's this guy I like who's basically my best friend. He suffers with Anorexia, and while he's been healthy for a while now, lately he keeps saying he needs to lose like 10 pounds. The thing is, he was in an accident, and he really can't exercise at all, so that makes it even harder with him and his ED. He told his online friends how he was feeling and they all came back with "you're fine, don't try to lose weight, you don't need to"But I was thinking about it and I emailed him and told him I thought he should get some help to maintain his current healthy weight because I'm disabled, and I know what it's like to not be able to be mobile. He called me all upset saying he's fat and how I didn't find him as handsome as I once did. When thats not what I meant!!!! I just, I guess I didn't look at it from the ED point, i just thought that if I came at him with a bunch of "don't do that" like everyone else, then maybe he would feel like I wasn't really listening.I think he looks amazing..and I told him that over and over..but I don't see why he took what I said so wrongly! I feel like such an ass. But I don't have experience with people with ED's..so now I know I said the wrong thing, but I mean, I honestly didn't mean to hurt him.How do I really say I'm sorry, and how can I learn what not to say in situations like that? I don't want to lose my friendship because I should have kept my mouth shut! Thanks

He has overreacted, probably because he knows that he has issues with his body image. I'd just keep in touch with him and avoid the subject. It should blow over in no time.
