Wondering if anyone can provide some advice/suggestions on this.

I'm happily in a relationship but I feel like things keep drifting along in life at the moment. There's a heap of exciting plans for the next couple years (wedding date is set, start trying for kids) but they wont be for another year or so. I really can't wait for them to happen but at the same time dont want to wish away the now.

I'm over my job at the moment, even though theres nothing wrong with it. I just find it a drag to go to. I can't think of anything else i'd do though and can't be just quitting suddenly, i need the money!

When I take time off thinking i just need to refresh my brain, i just sit at home bored wishing I had something to do. I just feel lost in life as there's exciting things planned for the future, and I've had a great past but right now in life I dont really know what to do with myself!

I've tried projects and little goals but they work for a few weeks then i'm over them, or met them.

Is this normal for someone in their late 20s and just a phase or what else can i aim for so i'm not depressed and unmotivated all the time and can enjoy the NOW??

Ive spoken to a GP also and he said it isn't depression as that was one thought that popped into miknd.

Thanks for your answers everyone, makes me feel much better about things.

I've definitely taken a step backwards to think about what I enjoy and appreciate what I've got.

SonOfMan agony auntYou're not alone there, sounds like exactly the same phase I went through.

One thing I can say is that it won't last (unless you let it). And clearly you are worried about it which means you want to change it and that's a start on the right track.

Personally, I was in a job which became a drag and I lost interest in it as it wasn't challenging or fulfilling me. Despite what everyone said, I quit the job. I really believed I would get another one (despite all the news about jobs being few and far between etc) and I pictured in my mind where I want to be.

It took me nearly 2 months before I found somewhere and I have never been happier. What I learned from that is taking control of the situation and having self belief and determination. I wanted the challenge despite what people around me were saying.

One thing that really helps in this situation (when you are feeling down) is to take the time out to analyse yourself. What do you enjoy? What do you picture yourself doing? What is your motivation? Take the opportunity to study yourself, write things down, read books, if you are a believer of a religion turn to it. Even if you don't believe, the teachings of the word's religions tackle these issues and there is a lot of sound advice out there.

Most importantly, you need to be around people who motivate you and give you guidance. Even if it's a case of listening to what you are going through. The fact that you went to your GP is a good start, I did the same thing. But friends are also important as well as your partner. Mine was an angel who stood by my side, listened and offered her advice.

In this situation this is what really helps. So take some time out to listen to yourself, be honest with your feelings and picture where you want to be then make the first steps (however small or trivial) and create your path to get there.

If you need more specific answers just let me know.

Start going to collage on the side and earn a degree, that will keep quite a bit of your time and if you take enough classes you can not get board and you will also come out with something to be proud of on top of this.
