He lives in another state so I can't exactly just pop over to his place to see if he's all right. I'm trying not to overreact, but I'm getting pretty worried. We don't ever talk on the phone, so it would be kind of weird to call him out of the blue, but at this point I am wanting to call anyways. Good idea? How do I call without coming off as clingy and paranoid or stalkerish?

I think it's fine to call him once. Just keep the conversation light, and if you get voicemail, be casual. Just keep in mind that if he doesn't answer and doesn't call you back, you'll probably just feel worse.

Just call him, why would that be stalkerish? You don't need to say you haven't seen him online, just say you wanted to see how everything's been going. I'm sure he'll appreciate knowing you're thinking of him.

Are you sure he isn't on vacation or in school? Why is it clingy or stalkerish to call someone and inquire about his well-being? Just call him and ask how he's been doing. You'll feel a lot better.
