How can your life get so out of control?

Question - (21 January 2011) 2 Answers - (Newest, 21 January 2011)
A female age 51-59, anonymous writes:

I don't understand my own life. I have so much tragedy in my life, when I tell people what happens to me, they probably think, I m. lying. I have all the possible problems ,you can have in this life.

including

-death of a child

-mental health issues

-financial crises

-relationship crises

-family crises.

and I have no idea, how did I get here, and what have I done to deserve this. I feel very little energy to face with the next crises. Does anybody feels the way I do?

Anybody have a guess, what can be wrong in someones life, when it gets out of control like that?

Thanks

If there is one hrase that pisses me off above all others it is "it gets better". Because, for some of us, it just ain't true and there is no point thinking otherwise, it is just cliched and trite. It MAY get better, yes, but there are no guarantees and telling people who've been through shit, nearly always NOT of our own making, that "these things happen" and it gets better is pointless. I know what my strengths are, I don't need yet more crap to point them out, thank you.

OP - I am with you on this one, I am 37 and had nothing but crap when much nastier, awful people seem to have an easy ride and get everything want. What DOES help is knowing that we arent the only ones, there are other people with equally bad (and sometimes worse) lives and that they get through it so we will too. That there is usually at least ONE good thing - whether it is one really true and special friend, or sometimes just certain pieces of music that can shut things out for a while. It's about holding on to that one (or however many) genuine good thing. And just MAYBE there will be a ray of sunshine round the corner.

CJH agony auntTheres nothing wrong, I`m afraid its just the way life goes.

I`m not trying to belittle what youre going through or have been through but everybody, at one time or another has to go through unimaginable times. What you say about having no idea how you got to this point is something I hear all the time.

The one thing I can tell you for sure is that you will come through this and, interestingly enough, you will remeber exactly how you survived and you will know exactly what your strengths are as a result.

Nobody said life was easy did they? You have my sympathy for all you have endured - especially the loss of a child - the only way through it is to understand that live is a moving target - it gets better.

Good luck x
