Sorry my research wasn't very helpful, but to be fair I just typed apprenticeships in to Google. Did you bother to look into anything else?

Lots of people feel the same in the current recession - money problems can be very stressful indeed. However, there are lots of benefits that you can claim in the UK and you should go to the jobcentre for advice on that. Get someone to look at your CV to make your application stand out from the rest. Think about your qualifications and retraining (call your local careers service for advice), or even think about self-employment. Self employment in the UK can be a very attractive option at the moment if you can match your skills with something needed in your community. You can get help while you get established via the tax credits/ benefits system and you maybe even able to get a start-up grant (Princes Trust or your local council can offer advice). If self employment is not for you, then what about voluntary work to keep busy and gain new skills and a good reference? Charities offer fantastic opportunities for the unemployed.

Hang in there friend. I know exactly how you feel. I came to this country to obtain better future. Yet, so far, it's been nothing but hard, rough, tough, and I can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. I have to leave the country soon if I don't obtain a decent job. That will mean leaving my boyfriend, best friends, and many more. Something I would not want to do.Polish your resume. Go to job fair. Network with the right people. Tell a lot of people your story. Send two types of application: electronic and post. Follow up your application. Keep applying. Just keep applying. Never ever ever give up. First goal is to get them to see you (interview), then move from there.Finding a job is a tedious job. Before you find one, you'll have all the insecurities, depression and low self esteem. All the annoying irritating stuff. It's like when you hang out with your friends and you see them ordering a more expensive item, and you can't because you don't have the money. For me, it's seeing career women, sipping expensive coffee and have new clothes every week. Believe it or not, that's what inspires me, hahahah. Whatever works for you.One thing, just keep on believing. Tomorrow is another new day. And what's important is what you do now. The present.Good luck :]

There are lots to choose from so go and find out what interests you and start applying. At least your girlfriend will see you are trying.
Good luck
