How can i pick myself up and stop feeling so down?

I am 21 and a half years old and I have no reason to feel unhappy, I have a great family, good friends, and a caring loving boyfriend.

I have my whole life ahead of me but i find myself just feeling so unhappy. I hate going to work, i have a very physical job and i find myself always tired and feeling run down although its working towards my career and theres nothing else i could think of that i would suit better.

I almost feel like I have massive highs, (looking forward to something coming up on a weekend etc) and then once its over and back to reality i just feel down.

Is there something wrong with me i feel so unappreciative of what i have and i don't want to rub some of my down moments on the ones i love although i am good at hiding it.

Thanks

Cccc agony auntI think you need to set a Goal to something that you look foreword to.Maybe travel a bit only you and you Boyfriend.Go somewhere and be free for a while. It sounds like you work to much thats why you feel awesome on the weekends cause youre getting out of the usual routine.Dont know why but a weekend/week away only me and my girl is energizing.

Do you have a sense of purpose in life? everything else is secondary to this

everybody has an intuitive sense of what they want their life to be. take a week, figure out what that is, and develop a plan on where you're going to be in 90 days. you need to be moving towards that goal no matter the changes which take place in your life

A female reader, Dorothy Dix Australia +, writes (17 October 2010):

Hi there. You do have a lot of good things in your life, that's true.

Is there anything in your life at the moment you would like, but don't have?

Perhaps it's a case of lack of balance. Work/Life balance, I am referring to.

You said that you have a very physical job, but it's working towards your career.

What type of work do you do? Are you a personal trainer or a gym instructor?

OR, is your life paying for further study (university, for instance). Is that what you meant by "working towards your career"?

Feeling tired and run down all the time, will definitely make you also feel a bit down, as you don't have the energy to really enjoy life the way you'd like to.

- Do you eat well balanced meals?

- Do you sleep well?

- Have you considered some multi-vitamins? They can make a difference in your energy levels.

With more energy, your moods are also elevated as a result.

I really think it's entirely possible that you feel down because of feeling tired a lot of the time. You just don't have enough energy.

It's also possible that you don't do enough with your free time, and don't have enough fun. Perhaps your life isn't fulfilling.

- Do you consider your life to be interesting?

- Does your life feel like all you do is work and not much else?

- Do you have a sense of purpose in your life?
