So, my mom and dad are getting low on money. But i'm a responsible and GROWING 13 year old [ha] and i'm tired of asking my mom and dad. Plus, summer is coming up.

But I'm not old enough to have a job. Anyone know how to make extra money without being 16?

You can help by releaving the load around the house, such as do the cleaning, laundry. If you have a yard, maybe you can grow vegetables; tomatoes; carrots; cabbage; lettuce; broccoli. These are also expensive, and can help the family budget. But remember a family that is close and supportive is very important for a family to get through hard times. Also, do not allow your schooling to suffer. Study and get good grades. Eventually, with good grades and a few years, you'll be able to get a job. Companies that pay well, seek employees who have learned allot and did very well at it.

lexilou agony auntIn the uk 13 year olds can deliver papers but I dont know about usa is that possible for you?? Offer to wash neighbours cars or mow the lawn or do dog walking, babysitting or go to the store for a stressed mum in your street. Sell some of your old toys that are probably lurking under your bed. Oh and come and tell my 15 year old daughter how you appreciate your parents dont have a bottomless pit of money!! Well done to you for wanting to raise your own cash and help mum and dad by not demanding more. Good luck x

I don't know what state you live in, so it's difficult to give proper advice. Many states say you can get a job at 14, but you can't work past 8 hours on school nights. Maybe go to the theatre and try to be an 'usher' or if you are not afraid of hardwork, get a lawnmower and offer to cut your neighbors grass for a reduced price than the professional's, or a resturaunt and ask to wash the dishes.

The problem WILL be this! Many adults are finding it hard to make money and hard to make ends meet. This is so sad. So many adults are seeking out these same menial jobs as a way to make ends meet. I feel for you and your family. I wish I could be of more assistance to you. Take care and pray.
