Please help. My new downstairs neighbour is storing her urine in the house for her compost bin. Smells so bad.

I am so worried. I live in a council house, converted into up and down flats. New neighbour moves in, bad smell.

I have lived here for 5 years with my cat never any mice, i've got the best mouse catcher. Neighbour brings compost bin, veg, rotting food, flies, bluebottles, mice move in!

I put down traps. Bad smell still for months from her kitchen.

Finally today it's revealed. She's storing her urine in litre bottles, had a funnel in it, then using it on the compost bin, plants.

I'm scared if she is storing other stuff. She has depression, she said they wont re-house her if she messes up this time. She doesn't know i saw the bottles, but she tells me how great urine is for compost.

I feel sick! I can smell it in my bathroom from downstairs. She needs help. She just says it's the compost that smells! Where do i turn? She will just deny storing it, she is mentally not well. I think she has compulsive hording issues.

This is serious.

I would wait to see if the council steps in. Forgive my typing, I have a kitten pouncing on the keyboard, haha. Anyhoo, I would tell her how you feel; let her know that although she says it's not that bad, that it makes you ill. This is one of those situations that affects your quality of life, and that's NOT FAIR to YOU.

This is verified as being by the original poster of the question

i have phoned the council they just said they will get someone to phone me back.

the compost bin is in the garden, not in the house. i had to ask her to move it as the flies where sitting on y bedroom window.

she is using a bucket of urine to soak the cardboard for the compost bin. i have to keep my window closed because its not covered and the flies are around and on her shed full of carrier bags.

i am getting really down about it. i had to have incense burning in my bathroom, 3 sented candles and i can still smell it.

im worried because she is so much better than the drug addicts who where evidicted who lived their before, but i cant handle the stink.

i dont wont to get her in trouble, but how can i say to her stop storing your urine in the house, its horrid. she will just say, oh dont worry about that!

its making me feel sick.

should it be social services and a social worker i need to contact instead?

You're very right. This is very serious, and she likely has hording issues. Her compost is not sanitary AT ALL and should be removed from the house as WELL as her urine. That is probably the mose unsanitary thing in the world as far as I'm concerned. Contact your house athourities and get the problem taken care of.

This woman needs help, and you need a bearable bathroom.

lexilou agony auntYou need to contact the council, whether she has depression or not you cannot live like this and something needs to be done about it. Just keep bugging them until they do something about it. Good luck x
