Go to school part-time. Over 5 years you can get yourself a career - nursing, doctors assistant, dental hygienist (they earn $45 an hour)...etc...

Here are a few tips I have:
1. Babysit. It sounds like something a teenage girl does to make pocket money, but the fact is, you're an adult, and as long as your house is presentable, you could really sell yourself as a reputable occasional sitter. After all, you have quite the experience in childcare.
2. Use your skills to make money. If you know how to sew, do alterations on clothing from your home. If you're really good with technology, you could repair computers or teach people how to use computer programs.
3. Make a budget and stick to it so you're not broke three days after your husband gets paid. I know I don't know all facets of your lifestyle or the amount of bills you have, but I can make a wild guess that you're not always frugal and careful with your money. Try a self-help budgeting advice website, like www.mint.com (incredibly reputable, no strings attached). If that doesn't help, consider looking to your bank for some financial advice from a banker. They can help you set up a savings plan so you're never out of money.
4. Use coupons on groceries you buy regularly. If this means you spend $6 a month on your city's Sunday paper with all the coupon inserts in it, so be it, because you'll probably save more than $6. There frequently are diaper, milk and frozen entree coupons, as well as cleaning supplies in there. Take full advantage of them, but DON'T buy something just because you have a coupon for it.
Hopefully this will help you out a little! Best of luck to you!
