I don't feel comfortable without it on, the thing is, as you can imagine, my skins already becoming quite knackered out already, i have pinkish skin with dark freckles everywhere and the odd few spots. I hate my skin so much, but everyone hates how much make-up i wear to cover them. I'm always scared to get upclose with my boyfriend with and ovbiously without all the slap. I know this might not sound like a total big deal to anyone, but it's quite hard going from one extreme to another and feeling comfortable with it.I wondered if anyone knew how to treat skin, so it looks more fresh instead of fake, but still feel confident? Please? x

Hiya, yeah i'm addicted to make-up myself! The only people I allow to see me without it are my parents. My complexion isn't too bad, i'm just quite pale and have an uneven skin tone! I dn't tend to wear it on holiday though, because i get a lovely tan. My point being is that the next time you travel abroad, let your skin breathe to allow the sun to shine on it! You'll notice an improvement straight away and the sun dries up spots, so it'll make your skin really clear and tanned.
As for everyday purpose, Do what the first poster suggested and use less and less make-up everyday. Also drink plenty of water, eat lots of fruit and veg, blah blah blah! And treat your skin to a face mask on a weekly basis!
Oh and there's more too =) Make sure you cleanse and moisturise regularly. It'll give your skin that nice healthy glow! You can also use fake tan, if you've got an uneven skin tone or is a pinkish/pale colour.
Since you have a pinkish tone, try using concealer - it gets rid of any redness. And when you're feeling more comfortable with your complexion, try using tinted moisturiser instead of foundation either that, or use a lightweight foundation (Maxfactor does a good range). Heavy make-up is bad for your skin, so just go lightly!
Last tip... Promise! When you're not going out anywhere, then don't wear it - pamper it instead, and use various skin treatments on your face throughout the day! Its good to let your skin breathe once in a while!
Hope i've helped, sorry for writing so much! xx

Eat more fresh fruits and veges and enjoy a simply stress free life ..
Beauty comes from the inside. It radiates from your inside.
Knowing God and having peace in your life will see the glow on your face.
Use less cosmetics because they contain a lot of toxic chemicals, which will harm your skin in the long run.

I seem to be the opposite of you, I usually never wear make-up, but that's not in conflict with people who do wear it, I'm just usually very lazy about it. Plus I'm not very good at make-up technique- it really is an art. Maybe we could swap tips :)
Anyway, what the other posters have said are great, cut back on the make-up everyday, and invest in good skin products.
I have my own recommendation too- be confident! I know it's hard without your usual make-up, but remember, you're beautiful, and your boyfriend obviously likes you for you, not the amount of make-up on your face.
Put on less each day and eventually you will get used to it. You might end up being too lazy to put it on like me too.
Good luck!

hey hun, well first of all you need to start a really deep cleaning skin regime - cos your skin is probably absolutely worn out!! you and your skin are still so young and you need to let it breathe once in a while. exfoliate once a week - this is necessary since you do wear alot of make up and will need to remove dead skin and left overs etc. my other advice is to gradually reduce the amount of make up you wear - try and get it down to just foundation - or even better - tinted moisturiser. personally i dont see any harm in wearing just foundation or tinted moisturiser, but there is no need for anything else. you say you hate your skin now - well if you keep on going the way you are, your skin is only going to get worse and age quicker. and also try and not wear make up around the house etc. i hope this helps somewhat hun, email me if you want xxx

Hi hun
Good advice from the other posters here about wearing less and less makeup each day and also some great products you could use. I know that many guys your age prefer the natural look..they are not big fans of their girlfriends having on tons of makeup. I think skin care is MAJOR and no amount of makeup can make up for a regular cleaning regimen. I note you are an english gal so we may have some prodcuts here that you may not have there and vice versa. Rather than getting down about it why not go to your local drug store or department store and ask the cosmetics reps what they think. Make it clear what your budget is and I would suggest that you get tips on skin care first. I teach high school and a lot of the girls I work with like the BONNE BELL line of makeup. It is light, fresh and has colors of lip gloss and foundation which should flatter you. I know it sounds old fashioned but inner beauty comes from confidence and believing in yourself. Good luck hun!!

Hey hunny.
you mentioned going from one extreme to the other, but to put it in a nutshell you can't do it that quick. What you need to start doing is wearing less and less every day. Such as, a little less foundation one day, and no powder the next. Also, to get your skin feeling and looking fresch again you have to make sure you wash it off every night, and wash it in the morning..if you do have the "odd" or "dark" spots on your face you may want to go to wal-mart or walgreens and pick up some "FADE CREAM" to even out your skin tone! Hope I helped :) keep me posted.

I used to wear a lot of make up, eye liner and quite a bit of foundation. What I did was not completely stop using make up because I like it, it doesnt have to be worn to cover up your face but just to accentuate your features. I use Bare Minerals which is very good for your skin AND gives you even coverage, you honestly can't even tell you are wearing anything. Sorry if i sound like an ad for it but it changed my life, I love it, lol. Also, I wash my face with Neutrogena prducts and it works well with acne and gives a fresh clean feeling. The Bare Minerals is a bit expensive though since it works so well, but anything is better than liquid foundation if that is what you are using now. Usually it will look like it is caked on and fake and possibly a line between your face and neck that is a different color. To feel good without any make up at all is just to get used to it. Start gradually, use less and less. Maybe go without make up to the store or some place you wont see anyone you want to impress and just get used to it. It's kind of what I do when I don't feel like getting all ready. Let me know if I helped out at all. Good luck !
