I went shopping at the mall and they were listed by numbers like 4-5 and 5-6. What do these numbers mean? How strange!?Some people have told me to be careful because if I get something too big she may get upset with me. Would it be better to buy something too small or nothing at all!?Thank you Reply to this Question Share |

maybe if you sneak into her closet when shes away and check her size on the label. or if you wanna trick her get her into a convo about clothes and then bring what size she is into it.

Anything from a 1-6 is considered small, 5-10 medium, 11 and higher large. Use your disgression. Is she on the smaller side, larger side, or about average compared with other women? You may also need to consider the type of dress it is. I for one tend to get a smaller dress size as I have a small waist but don't size Don't worry about not getting the perfect size, just remember to save the receipt incase it's not the perfect fit.

Mediums are typically a size 8. A 4-6 would be considered small. Do you know her weight and height? Sometimes if you work with a sales woman and point out a woman her size she can assess her size. If it were me and I were a size medium and my guy got me a size 8 dress, I wouldn't be offended at all, even if it was too small or too big. I think this is a very nice idea. If you still aren't sure, perhaps you can give her a gift certificate with a picture of the dress you wanted to give her.

Gah!
I forgot to mention you can find out her size by how much she weighs. If you do not know that, maybe randomly ask her what size she wares and change the subject. That is a tricky question, as almost all women think they are fat and never admit how much they weigh. Hopefully that will change, as most of the women who say they are fat... are skinny as hell.

I know! Same with me!
However, I do know that medium sizes are 4-6. Which make no sense to me, as that is very skinny. Now and days if you are 130 pounds you are obese. What is wrong with todays standards?
If you are not sure, it might be better to get her jewelery. Ever woman likes jewelery in some sort. If she does not have a necklace, get her one. Know what her birthstone is? Maybe get her one in that stone, or in one she knows she likes. It is all up to you what to get her.
