writes: hey, im going camping and trekking for 4 days and 3 nights for my duke of edinburghs award in a couple of weeks... the thing is that i might be on my period, which will make me very uncomfortable... is there any way of delaying your period? also, i started my periods almost 5 years ago, and they a kinda regular.xxx

reader, anonymous, writes (27 March 2007): Speak to your doctor. You do not necessarily need to use the contraceptive pill. There is another hormone based pill that will delay your period that is not a contraceptive. This might be a better option than 'going on the pill'.

Hi Hun,
The only way that I know is to be on the pill and continue taking a few more days worth to delay your period. You should talk with your Mom about this. Also, if you are going on a boy and girl camping trip, I think your Mom will be a little nervous about your motivation in going on the pill (Yes, All Moms are like this). If you are worried about personal cleanliness, take a box of unscented baby wipes and use tampons during the day and an extra pad overnight to protect your sleeping bag. You should be fine. Have a great time.
