She says that she can't risk getting pregnant and says that she doesn't wanna take contraceptives as they have lots of side effects and cause weakness. I ask her to go see her gynaec about it and that we can decide watevas right after discussing it with her gynaec but she is quite adamant about not using the pill. Is there some way I can change her mind. Are contraceptives really that harmful.

You've been really helpful and OMG, I didn't know pills were really that harmful and I would never want my gf to go through all that...afterall sex is more to do with pleasing your partner and the eventual gratification you get from doing it. So, for now, I guess I have plenty of variety of condoms to choose from...thnks u all

If she does not want to take the pill, then she can have a coil fitted. Ask her gynocologist about other methods of contraception, if your girlfriend is adamant about not taking the pill.
Personally myself. I had the coil fitted a year ago because I do not like the thought of having to remember to take the pill everyday. There are two types of the pill, combined which has oestrogen and progestorone hormones and the mini pill. The side affects from taking the pill is weight gain, nausea, headaches etc. But before you guys decide which method of birth control you do decide to use, I would say keep using condoms for the time being until she gets sorted.

The pill has lots of side effects, some of them dangerous. (I say this as a woman who was on the pill for 20 years, and they made sure I knew what they were.) So let me see if my memory holds. The side effects are
*weight gain
*irregular periods/ breakthrough bleeding
*moodiness
*nausea
*headaches
*decreased libido
*blood clots & stroke (mostly for women who smoke too)
For some women the side effects are minimal, but each woman reacts differently.
Here's the thing: (1) if she's not good at remembering to take the pill, then it's not effective, and (2) it doesn't protect either of you from STDs.
Even is she were on the pill, YOU should be insisting on wearing a condom. How do you know she's remembered to take it today?
Finally, her body her rules. She's doing what she knows works. Worrying about becoming pregnant isn't a nice way to get into the mood, so do what you need to do for her piece of mind.

I understand that you may not want to use a condom-but you need to respect your girlfriends desision. The pill can cause sickness etc, and be quite nasty, and also it is less reliable than a condom, there are a lot more side effects.i know its not what you want to hear, but i think what you need to think here is better safe than sorry. hope that helped.
