Question - (22 November 2008) 1 Answers - (Newest, 22 November 2008)
A male United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

So... I'm a Senior in Highschool and I'm dating a Sophomore. I'm sure there are alot of you who say that a teenage relationship is meaningless; well maybe it is maybe it isn't.

Anyway there are alot of underclassmen who openly like her. They flirt with her and tell her that she should break-up with me. One has even gone so far as to threaten to kill himself if she doesnt leave me!

I don't want to sound vain, but these kids have nothing on me. I'm pretty certain my girl isn't going anywhere but its openly disrespectful to me. I'm a pretty big boy and all these guys know that if it came down to it I could put a beat down on them. My girl has specifically asked me to leave them alone... so I do.

My question is should I disregaurd my girlfriends requests and go ahead and put a stop to the madness. I might not fight them but I feel like I should at least talk to them, because I'm not sure that with all of the atempts to obtain her including the suicide threat she recieved that our relationship is strong enough to handle the strain.

TasteofIndia agony auntI agree with your girlfriend, so keep it classy for her and don't beat down on anybody. I don't think it's horrible though, if they say something in front of you and you tell them, "back off, not happening". I think talking to them and being firm is cool. You sound like a good boyfriend and I'm glad you respect your girl enough to fight the urge to lay the smackdown.
