We both want to stay virgins, but he's telling me we won't be able to mess around under the waist because I'm still a minor, and I would have to ask specifically for it every time with nothing from him. It sounds bogus to me! The Age of Consent in my state (North Carolina) is 16. Is this true? I've looked everywhere, and I can't find any legal documentation that confirms that. We're both pretty concerned about not breaking the law. HELP! Reply to this Question Share |

Dear annieseven7,
I know this is about you but i just want to put my story in to let you know whats going to happen. i was 17 when i met my 25 yr old fiance and i was stoped by the cops and they asked me if i was with my fiance and i told them yeah and things went fine cause i was of age of concent and i was almost 18. you dont have to worrie about getting him in trouble so you dont have have to worrie about getting the law involved and to be really safe if you two do do something then just keep it between you two....he can do something with you because when you are 18 you can do something with a 16yr old as long as you and your parents say its ok, and if you are 21 you cant do anything with ne one under the age of 18 so as far as the law you can!

I live in North Carolina, as far as the law is concerned, if the sex is consenual between the two of you, it is totally legal. Just keep the lines of communication open and go ahead and have fun. I admire your decision to remain virgins it's a wise one. With all the STD's it's great to wait until you are with the love of your life.

Well I did a search for like ever! And it appears that all you can really find is that the age of consent for male/female sexual relationships in North Carolina is 16.
I think the grey area that your bf could be referring to is the one of where the law deems that the age of consent should be raised to 18 rather than 16, in instances were the partner engaging in sex with you, is older than you by 5 years of more.
Basically the law would have a different view on it being a consensual act if the minor (always classed as minor until 18) were 16, and the boyfriend 21 or above then the law could be passed that the minor was cohersed, or could be technically classed as abuse. But thats to the extreme. Yes all rather cloudy.... but as you are both more or less the same age, both above the legal age of consent (16) then you are free to act in a sexual nature with one another,to however you both feel comfortable.
Have fun and take care.

if the age of consent is 16 in your state and you are both over this age then as long as you are both willing (consenting) then there should be no problem with sexual activity no matter how far you go. just make sure you talk to your bf about how far you both want to go n make sure it is right for you both.
